Backlit Stone: 7 Beautiful Ways to Use Stone That Glows
Backlit Stone is our own rare white natural stone that lets light pass through it. In daylight it looks clean, bright and white. Switch on the lights behind it and the whole surface glows, showing a soft natural pattern from within. One material gives a space two looks: calm by day and dramatic by night.
Here are the best ways to use Backlit Stone, and what to plan before you order.

What makes Backlit Stone special
- Light passes through it. LED lighting placed behind the stone shines through and makes it glow evenly.
- Two looks in one. White and elegant in daylight, warm and glowing when lit.
- Natural pattern comes alive. The light reveals the stone’s natural lines and clouds, so every panel is unique.
- You choose the mood. Warm white light gives a cosy, golden glow; cool white light gives a crisp, modern look. Dimmable LEDs let you change it through the day.
- Cut to your design. Supplied as slabs, thin panels or cut-to-size pieces for each project.
1. Staircases
Backlit Stone can be used on stair risers, side walls and balustrades. Lit from behind, every step glows, turning a staircase into the centrepiece of a home, hotel or showroom. It also works as a soft night light, guiding people up and down safely.

2. Feature walls
A glowing feature wall is the most popular use. It works behind a TV or sofa, at the head of a bed, in a double-height hall, behind a reception desk or along a corridor. Large panels with matching patterns give a seamless wall of light.

3. Floor borders that glow
Just as many homes use a stone border strip in the floor, Backlit Stone can be set as a border or inlay with lighting underneath, so the floor itself glows. It is a striking way to frame a hall, lobby, dining area or entrance. Your contractor builds a lit channel below the floor, and we cut the stone strips to size.

4. Bars, reception desks and counters
Restaurants, hotels and offices use Backlit Stone on the front of bars and reception desks so guests see a soft glow as they arrive. In homes, it looks beautiful on a kitchen island, countertop or breakfast bar.

5. Tables
A table top or base made from Backlit Stone, with lighting built inside, becomes a glowing focal point for a lounge, lobby or event space.
6. Lamps and light boxes
Square and rectangular lamps made from Backlit Stone give a gentle, natural light for living rooms, bedrooms, hotels and restaurants. They also make a memorable gift.
7. Bathrooms, ceilings and more
Vanity walls, spa walls, ceiling panels, shelves and niches can all be made in Backlit Stone. Wherever you want stone that glows, it can be cut to fit.

Planning your Backlit Stone project
- Share your measurements or drawings. Wall, floor, stair or counter sizes let us suggest panel sizes and a layout.
- Plan the lighting. Even LED panels or strips give a smooth glow without bright spots. Your electrician fits them behind or under the stone.
- Leave access for maintenance. Plan a way to reach the LEDs later without removing the stone.
- Choose warm or cool light. Warm white for a golden glow, cool white for a crisp, modern look.
- Ask for photos of real stone. Every block is different. We can send photos or a video of the actual panels, lit and unlit, before you order.
Caring for Backlit Stone
Clean with a soft cloth and a mild, pH-neutral stone cleaner. Avoid acidic cleaners such as vinegar or lemon, which can dull the polish. A stone sealer helps protect counters and table tops from stains.
