Marble Price in Karachi: 7 Things That Decide the Cost

“What is the marble rate?” is the first question most people ask us. The honest answer is: it depends. Two marbles that look similar can have very different prices. This guide explains the main things that decide the cost, so you can compare quotes properly and plan your budget.

1. The type of stone

This is the biggest factor. Local Pakistani marbles are usually the most affordable. Rare colours, imported stones and onyx cost more because there is less supply and more waste in cutting. If you are not sure which stone suits your project, read our comparison of marble, onyx and travertine.

2. Grade and vein quality

The same marble comes in different grades. A top-grade slab has even colour, clean veins and few natural spots or cracks. A lower grade may have more spots, colour changes or filled holes. Always ask to see the actual slab or a clear photo, not just a sample piece.

3. Slab size

Large slabs cost more per square foot than small pieces, because big blocks are harder to quarry and more slabs break during cutting. But large slabs give fewer joints, which looks cleaner on floors and feature walls. Our guide on choosing a white marble slab explains common sizes.

4. Thickness

Most floor and wall marble is about 2 cm thick. Thicker pieces are used for stairs, counter edges and heavy-use areas, and they cost more because they use more stone.

5. Finish and polishing

A high-gloss polish, epoxy filling, honed (matt) finish or flamed non-slip finish each add a different cost. Outdoor areas and wet areas often need a non-slip finish for safety.

6. Cutting and design work

Plain square tiles are the simplest. Prices go up for bookmatch layouts, curved stairs, edge profiles, inlay and hand carving. A marble fountain or a carved sink is priced on the work involved, not just the stone.

7. Quantity, wastage and delivery

Always add some extra stone for cutting waste and future repairs. Larger orders can get a better rate. Also ask whether the quote includes delivery, loading and installation, because these can change the final price.

How to get an accurate quote

  • Measure the area, or share your drawings
  • Tell us where the stone will go: floor, wall, stairs, kitchen or outdoors
