Afghan Pearl White Marble Flooring: DHA Lahore and Poland Projects

White marble floors make a home feel bright, open and calm. Afghan Pearl White is the white marble we know best: a natural stone with a clean white background and soft grey veins. In this post we show two real floor stories, one in DHA Lahore and one in Poland, and explain how to choose sizes, thickness and finish for your own floor.

Project: Afghan Pearl White floors in DHA Lahore

For a luxury home in DHA Lahore we supplied Afghan Pearl White marble for the floors, including a bookmatch floor pattern. In a bookmatch floor, two slabs cut one after the other from the same block are laid side by side so the veins open like a book and make a mirrored pattern. It turns a hallway or lounge floor into a feature.

Afghan Pearl White in Europe: WKG, Poland

WKG sp. z o.o. sp.k., a stone company in Poland, had already worked with Afghan Pearl White and liked the stone. The photo below is a floor from their earlier work, which they shared with us. Their director then visited us in Karachi, inspected our Afghan Pearl White blocks, selected the ones he liked and bought raw blocks from us to process in their own factory in Poland.

Slab or tile? Sizes for floors

• Large gangsaw slabs go up to about 8 x 10 ft (about 244 x 305 cm). Common sizes are 6 x 8, 8 x 9 and 8 x 10 ft. Architects often choose the largest slabs for floors because there are fewer joints and the veins flow across the room.
• Cut-to-size tiles such as 24 x 24 in (61 x 61 cm) and 24 x 48 in (61 x 122 cm). The 24 x 48 in size is popular in mosques. Many other sizes can be cut.
• Raw blocks (about 20 to 25 tonnes each) for factories that process stone themselves.

Thickness and finish

Our slabs are mostly 2 cm (about 3/4 inch) thick, which suits floors and walls in homes. We polish on an Italian automatic polishing line and offer epoxy polish, which fills tiny natural pores and gives a deep shine. A honed (matt) finish is available on request for areas where you want less shine.

Caring for a white marble floor

• Wipe spills quickly, especially acidic ones like lemon juice, vinegar and tea, which can dull polished marble.
• Clean with a soft mop and a mild, pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid strong acids and bleach.
• Use mats at entrances to stop grit from scratching the polish.
